For 2009 there are several changes to the network.
- New for this summer, First Great Western have agreed that the Sunday Rover ticket will be valid on Tarka Line Trains between Barnstaple, Exeter and Digby & Sowton.
- The Exeter to Okehampton train starts operation on Sunday June 7th 2009 Five trips each way .
- In the future, Dartmoor Railway are planning to restore a second platform at Yeoford Station to enable an Exeter to Okehampton train service to operate as a connection with the Exeter to Barnstaple Tarka line and as part of the Sunday Rover network. This will allow trains to operate on Saturday and Sunday throughout the year and some weekdays in the summer. Until the completion of this project (expected later in 2009), DCC are providing a direct bus service (Route X99) which operates between Exeter Bus Station and Okehampton Station, as well as the train from Exeter Central & St David’s to Okehampton Station.
- At Okehampton Station the buffet and model shop are now fully re-opened.
- Dartmoor Railway are running trains at weekends between Okehampton and Meldon using their historic multiple unit. Please note that Sunday Rover tickets are not valid on this service - show your ticket to receive a discount on fares. Dartmoor Railway can be contacted on 01837 55667.
There are also changes for Saturday Dartmoor Services this summer.
- Service 82 will now operate between Yelverton and Moretonhampstead with five journeys per day instead of the present two, giving more opportunity to get off and explore the moor.
- At Moretonhampstead there are more journeys to Bovey Tracey on service 178, connecting with the 82.
- A new circular route, the "Haytor Hoppa", links Bovey Tracey, Haytor, Widecombe and Manaton, with four journeys each Saturday.
