Trail has parallel bus and / or train routes to allow for short lengths to be walkedTrail is mostly waymarked and signposted

43 miles through the Heart of Devon, linking the Exe Valley with Okehampton and its variety of route connections. The route is waymarked.

The route passes through the towns of Crediton, North Tawton and Okehampton, as well as a number of small villages.

Mostly through a gentle pastoral landscape, much of it through traditional Devon redlands. Towards the west of the Way, the outline of Dartmoor provides a characteristic backdrop.

Links with the Exe Valley Way at the Eastern end, crosses the Two Moors Way and the Tarka Trail and joins the West Devon Way, Two Castles Trail and Dartmoor Way at Okehampton.

Train access to Newton St. Cyres, Crediton and Yeoford (all on the Tarka Line from Exeter); in addition summer Sunday trains to Okehampton on the Dartmoor Line, also from Exeter. Bus access to Stoke Canon (the eastern terminus), Crediton, North Tawton, Sampford Courtenay and Okehampton.
