Travel Awareness

Public Transport

  • Bus, coach and rail travel is much safer than car travel.
  • Buses can carry many more people than cars so are more environmentally friendly.
  • The average double-decker bus can carry as many people as 22 cars but takes up a seventh of the road space.
  • Travel by bus and train can be an easy, convenient, fun alternative to worrying about long car journeys, driving along narrow lanes and finding a parking space in congested places.
  • You can relax and enjoy the scenery instead of keeping your eye on the road or car ahead.
  • You'll see more from a train window or the top of a double-decker bus.
  • In addition you will be reducing congestion and pollution in sensitive areas, helping to protect Devon's beautiful environment and supporting a local service too.
