| ASW | Approved Social Worker is a qualified social worker who's done further training and been 'approved' to carry out various functions under the Mental Health Act (1983). ASW's take part in assessing and individual's mental health under the Act, together with medical professionals, looking at whether compulsory admission to hospital is needed - ASW's have as particular responsibility to look at alternatives to going into hospital. |
