Social Workers with Deaf People

We can help:

  • people who are Deaf and whose first language is sign language
  • the parents and carers of people who are Deaf
  • Deaf, deafened or hard of hearing people who need additional help or advice

With, for example:

  • information about Registration as Deaf
  • information and advice and disability benefits
  • difficulties with caring for children
  • problems with living alone/independently
  • mental health difficulties
  • managing at work
  • housing problems
  • information about the effects of deafness on learning
  • information about how to book a sign language interpreter (see also BSL Interpreters)

How to contact a Social Worker with Deaf People

There are Social Workers with Deaf People in different parts of the County -

  • in Exeter, Magdalen Road
  • in Barnstaple, 19a Alexandra Road
  • in Dartington, Foxhole

You can contact a Social Worker for Deaf People

  • by asking the Social Services office nearest your home to pass on your details,
    or:
  • through the duty system operating in Exeter, Tiverton, and Barnstaple
