Valuing people

Service commissioning and transformation

Involving users, carers and communities of interest (including black and minority ethnic groups) in planning, modernisation and governance. Increasingly integrating service specific planning with the development of broader community strategy and consultation processes, as they develop.

User and carer involvement.

Reducing inequalities and promoting diversity and social inclusion.

Working Together

Partnership development

Setting up with others, partnership arrangements such as the Devon Older Peoples Partnership, the Children’s Pathfinder Trust, the Devon Partnership Trust, and participating fully in the Devon Strategic Partnership and Local Strategic Partnerships. Creating regular dialogue with the private and voluntary sectors about the development of social care services in the County.

Utilising Council-wide organisational improvement tools such as the ‘Excellence Model’, to maximise synergy between Social Services, other Directorates, corporate initiatives and the improvement efforts of partner agencies.

Business Innovation

Changing the way people gain entry to Social Services as part of the Council’s new approach to public access so that we provide a radically improved service experience for users and carers.
