My name is Denise Fardon and I have just taken up the post of Development Manager for a project in relation to Direct Payments. Direct payments are cash payments paid instead of receiving assessed Social Care services. They enable individuals to have much greater control and choice over the services that they receive. A good deal of support and advice is available to people who would like to consider having direct payments including advisors who will come to your home to discuss this.
The initial part of the project is to gather information from people who receive such services or care for (or work with) those who do, about their satisfaction with these services, services which they would like that are not available and if there are any difficulties with taking up direct payments. I would like to speak to all people or carers or (organisations who work with them) who receive services whether currently through direct payments or not.

All views will be passed directly (without names – unless you have requested information) to the Direct Payments Team and Managers in Social Services.
I am working with a Service User Steering Group who will consider the results of the project and make recommendations to the Senior Management Group regarding future development of the Direct Payment Service. If you would like to send any information to this steering group please contact me.
