Charges & Benefits

What if ...

What if I'm in hospital?

If you are in hospital, an officer will visit you to assess what you will be charged for the services you will receive once you return home. You may have a relative or carer who is able to bring the information they require to the hospital or, if it is not possible to get hold of all the necessary information we will arrange a second visit once you go home.

What if I disagree with my financial assessment?

If you disagree with your financial assessment, ask your visiting officer for a form to record your objection. The form should be returned to Devon Social Services who will advise you in writing of your weekly charge once they have considered the reasons for your disagreement. If your financial circumstances change you should complete the request for a review form left by the visiting officer or contact your local Social Services office who will arrange to review your assessed charge

To find out more about the financial assessment process, please contact Care Direct, a free 24-hour telephone helpline, 0800 444000.

What if I want to complain?

If you have a complaint about any other aspect of the service that has been provided for you, your visiting officer will have a copy of our Complaints Procedure. or you can visit our Making a Complaint page
