Legal aid

Legal Aid is now called The legal help scheme. It allows people with a low income to get free legal advice and assistance from a solicitor or other organisation.

You can find more information about this from your local Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) who will be able to provide you with a list of solicitors within your area who have a contract with the Legal Services Commission. The CAB website also contains legal information.

Community Legal Services also has a directory of solicitors on-line; together with a directory of useful legal information and leaflets.
