Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS)
Patient Advice and Liaison Services (PALS) are a central part of Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in England. PALS are available in all Trusts.
PALS provide:
- Confidential advice and support to patients, families and their carers
- Information on the NHS and health related matters
- Confidential assistance in resolving problems and concerns quickly
- Explanations of NHS complaints procedures and how to get in touch with someone that can help
- Information on how you can get more involved in your own healthcare and the NHS locally
- Information to patients, carers and their families about local health services
- An early warning system for Trusts and Patients Forums by monitoring trends and highlighting gaps in service and making reports for action to Trust managers
PALS act independently of their Trust when negotiating immediate solutions to concerns and to help bring about change to the way services are delivered. If necessary, PALS can also refer patients, carers and families to local or national-based support agencies.
Find contact details for your local PALS using the online Devon Community Directory.
