Medicines Support Steering Group:
Terms of Reference
The Medicines steering group:
- Has responsibility for developing the Medicines Support Service Policy, Guidance and training
- Is accountable to ASMB / PCTs
- Will ensure links are made with other service developments so that procedures/practice dovetail to avoid duplication of effort and contradictory practice for example Falls, SAP and ADP developments
- Has the responsibility for informing health and social care staff, the independent sector domiciliary care providers and users and carers across Devon about the Policy and Service at a Devon-wide level
- Will offer project management to the initial PCT pilot site and support to the other PCT sites as they move to initial implementation
- Will have the overview of all initial PCT implementation sites in order to ensure consistency of approach and opportunities for shared learning, evaluation material and monitoring of progress
- Will ensure a suitable training programme and packs are developed
- Will work to secure funding for the delivery of training to encompass the needs of both public and independent sector staff
- Will be responsible for the evaluation of the initial pilot and collation and sharing of the learning
- Will provide regular progress reports to joint ASMB / PCT fora
- Will review the policies and procedures
- Will provide information in accessible formats for the public, service users, carers and staff

PCT Pilot Group
Terms of Reference
The PCT pilot group:
- Will take responsibility for the testing of the process and practice within the agreed PCT area
- Has responsibility for forming and chairing the pilot group
- Will lead the work with support from the central steering group (as defined in their terms of reference above) using the pro-forma attached
- Will arrange the category 3 training for its “test' site staff and separately for the category 4 training
- Will provide feedback on the policy, procedures and tools and recommend changes
- Will collect and collate information to assist in the evaluation by the central steering group and to help determine the benefits and difficulties of having such a service in place
- Following the testing the PCT will be responsible for the 'roll out' of the service implementation to the rest of its area
- Will assist with County-wide presentation(s) in order to inform and raise general awareness of the service
- Will provide progress reports to the central steering group which meets monthly
- Will provide regular feedback to PCT PEC and nominated Director

Initial Phase Implementation Sites:
Terms of Reference
The initial phase implementation sites within localities:
- Will take responsibility for forming and arranging a Local Implementation Group using the pro forma attached
- Will arrange the Category 3 and 4 training using the standardised material
- Will agree a local implementation plan for roll out and ensure staff, public and service users and carers are well-informed
- Will collect and collate information to support ongoing service improvements and monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the approach
- Will contribute to shared learning across Devon and within the PCT area
