Am I eligible to make a complaint?

Not everyone who wishes to complain is eligible to use the Adult & Community Services Complaints & Representations procedure.

To be eligible to make a complaint or representation, you must fit into one or more of these categories:

  • Currently be receiving services from us, or
  • Have received services in the past, or
  • If we have a power or duty to provide or secure services for you, or
  • Your need for a service has come to our attention, or
  • You have had an assessment of need, whatever the outcome.

If you are unsure whether you fit into any of these categories, please contact us.

Making a complaint on behalf of someone else

A complaint can be made by a representative acting on behalf of an eligible person (see above) if they have asked the representative to do so, or if they are not capable of making the complaint themselves.

You may also be able to make a complaint on behalf of someone else if we consider you to have sufficient interest in the eligible person's welfare e.g. family members or carers.

What if I am not eligible to make a compliant?
