Social & Emotional Aspects of Learning
Early Years & SEAL

Following the introduction of SEAL into schools the existing boxes of pre-school books and resources have been expanded and updated to fit the 7 themes in the SEAL program.
The boxes are available for pre-schools to borrow along with our selection of story bags. They are always well received when taken to our SEAL workshops and training days.
The books and resources are all linked to the 7 themes detailed in the guidance books from the early and later Foundation stages. They also support ‘from birth to 3 matters’ and the ‘Stepping Stones’.
To run alongside the boxes there are 2 blocks of six weeks for groups which can be used in the classroom/ setting. These demonstrate how SEAL fits with the curriculum and has ideas for circle time and general behaviour management.
If you are interested in having a workshop in your setting or would like some more information on the Early Years materials contact your local Behaviour Support Team or your local Primary Resource Base Teacher.
Here are some suggestions of how Early Years Practitioners may be able to use their existing Birth to Three Matters framework to prepare their children for the SEAL curriculum at school
