About

Background

Raising Devon's education standards through Best Value requires schools to have information about and access to the best possible services, and for them also to have clear aims, focused plans, effective implementation and rigorous evaluation. Schools are expected to apply the principles of Best Value in their management and use of resources.

The Best Value Review of Traded Services recommended that a Stakeholder Board be set up to represent Devon schools as customers. The Local Authority has established the Schools' Support Services Board to take on the role of this Stakeholder Board. The SSSB will have an advisory and monitoring role. Devon County Council and LA will provide the executive support. The Board's functions will be based on the principles of partnership and transparency.
