DAPH - Devon Association of Primary Headteachers
Feedback at Briefings dictates changes in support for H & S Issues
Ray Beale, Head of Business Strategies, CYPS was invited to talk on Corporate Manslaughter (CM) alongside other aspects of Health & Safety and answer common concerns regarding their practical interpretation and implementation in terms of the underlying legislation.
It is fair to say these topics resulted in lively and informative debates across all four Briefings with open, honest and constructive feedback given by attending Heads.
The main issues of concern centred on the CM training programme, lack of ongoing support regarding health and safety legislation and the disproportionate demands on time dictated by CM and related issues.
Ray acknowledged the problems experienced by schools at the front line, sincerely apologised for the situation and has given a personal commitment to challenge existing processes and introduce improvements which better serve the needs of headteachers.
Indeed, by the morning of the final Briefing in Exeter on 8th October, Ray was able to report on some positive developments which had directly resulted from the feedback given at the earlier DAPH Briefing events.
