Music Development Leaders
DMS has a team of Music Development Leaders working across Devon. The role of the Music Development Leader (MDL) is:
- To work in partnership with learning communities, schools, music educators and musicians in the wider community
- To develop and enhance the music educational experiences and opportunities of all young people in Devon
The main priorities of the MDL are:
- To work with schools to develop Wider Opportunities. Wider Opportunities is the result of the government’s commitment that ‘over time, all primary children who want to should have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument’.
- To find out from schools what music provision is already in place and to listen to their concerns and ideas for help in further development.
- To act as a link between schools and other agencies to help develop the music opportunities and experiences open to all young people of Devon.
