Devon Music Service is delighted to announce success in winning a substantial award from Youth Music to launch of a fantastic new two-year singing programme for all schools in the Tiverton and Honiton areas.

The project aims to establish a culture of singing in all the Local Learning Community (LLC) schools, where everyone will have the opportunity to sing.  Children and young people will work together, alongside a resident author and composer, to create a song cycle for their LLC, based on local history and heritage.

It is hoped that all primary school children will eventually transfer to secondary school knowing common songs which they own.

In September 2008 a new work will be commissioned to celebrate the coming together of the two communities and a Choir will be created, consisting of Yrs 5,6 7 & 8 pupils.  

Sessions will be open to all interested teachers from other schools.  Parents, Governors and Head Teachers will also be encouraged to support the project by observing and participating where appropriate.
