Devon Schools Mix

Sing Up Joint Choir

Sing up - logoTiverton and Honiton have been working on a 2 year project to turn all their schools into 'singing schools'.  During the first year each school wrote and composed their own song and then joined with the other schools in their town to perform the song cycle.

The second year has seen school teachers working alongside Claire Anstee and Julian Barnicoat, so that all teachers in the school feel confident to lead singing sessions or to have children in their class lead singing sessions.

Alongside this work two new community youth choirs for children aged 8-12 year olds have been formed.  The Tiverton choir is known as 'Singing Aloud' and the Honiton choir has chosen the name 'Honiton Super Singers'.  Two songs have been composed especially for them by local composer Peter Kyrke-Smith.

Watch this massed performance from all the schools and the 2 choirs when they all come together at the Devon Schools Mix for a joint performance of two songs composed by Peter Kyrke-Smith.
