For musicians of Grade 7 standard and above

Devon County Youth Orchestra looks forward to an exciting season working with the internationally acclaimed conductor and music  educator Scott Stroman.

Playing in Devon County Youth Orchestra gives opportunities for experienced ensemble members to work alongside some of the finest musicians in the county.  In addition to playing in the full orchestra, each section explores repertoire specifically written to develop skills within families of instruments.  The coaching offered is of the highest quality and members are given the chance to develop the skills required of a professional orchestral player.

The season consists of 3 residential courses and there are plans for a series of exciting concerts, workshops and demonstrations.

By June 2007 CYO hope to take a central role in engaging secondary schools at the music festival DS MXL (27th June 2007) at Westpoint.

Musical programme: Working on a British theme, ‘The Planets’, ‘Fireworks’ one of Scott’s own compositions, and working towards a solo concerto at the end of the season.

Feedback after the first CYO residential

Emma had a fantastic time, so good in fact that she is passing up the opportunity to go to Paris with her school choir in order to particpate in the summer residential    course. She found the music challenging and enjoyable and the company good, she will be recomending it to people she knows.

Marie enjoyed herself and was very enthusiastic about all that they had done under Scott's leadership. He really motivated and encouraged her.
