Terms and Conditions
Terms and conditions
- The closing date for nominations is 1pm Tuesday 20 May 2008. No nominations can be accepted and no further correspondence can be entered into after this date.
- We can only accept nominations on the nomination form or the online nomination form.
- The person who nominates the young person for an award (the nominator) will act as the contact for that young person and will need to give us full and accurate contact details.
- We will contact all nominators after the closing date to verify the nomination and check contact details are correct.
- All nominations will need to have a referee who can verify the nomination.
- If the nominator is a close friend or family member of the young person the referee must be a professional who has worked with the young person. This could be someone like a teacher, a youth worker or social worker. We reserve the right to ask you to provide a second referee.
- Either the nominator or the referee must be over the age of 18.
- If the nominator does not choose an award category, or the entry is considered more appropriate for a different category than the one chosen, we reserve the right to put the nomination in the category which best fits the information given.
- We will send a letter to every nominated young person letting them know that they have been nominated, the award category they are in and the name of the person who nominated them.
- The organisers will draw up a short list of young people for each category (finalists). Every finalist will be invited to the award ceremony on 28 June 2008 at County Hall in Exeter and will be able to bring three guests. The nominator and referee for each finalist will also be invited.
- Finalists will receive an information pack containing:
- an invitation
- directions to County Hall
- a reply form asking for the names of any guests
- a photograph and publicity consent form for parents or carers to sign.
- Finalists may be contacted by our press officer before the award ceremony for quotes to use in local media. Any publicity will be done through the Devon County Council press officer and names and contact details of young people will not be given directly to the media.
- Anyone can choose to opt out of photographs and publicity. Anyone with concerns about photographs and publicity can contact the organisers on 01392 383698 for more information.
- The overall winners in each category will be decided at a judging session at County Hall in June. The judging panel will include at least one young person.
- Judges will select one young person in each category as the overall winner of that award. One group will be chosen to be the overall winner of the group category.
If anyone has any questions about any aspect of the awards please contact the organisers on 01392 383698 and we will be happy to talk to you.
