Aim of the service

To increase participation in sport and physical activity at all levels and in all areas within the scope of the County Council and to work in partnership with others to achieve shared aims.

County Sports Development Office role

• To promote sport and encourage increased participation
• To identify and address sporting needs from all sections of the community, but particularly young people
• To seek and maximise funding to develop sporting opportunities
• To develop partnerships and support to other sports providers
• To provide an advisory service for Sports Facility and Sports Development
• To review, develop and implement the Devon Sports Strategy
• To represent the Local Education Authority on sports matters
