DCC supports the ‘Right to Read’ scheme that provides volunteers to help young children improve their reading abilities.
Through the scheme, you are found a school near to your home or work that needs help. Once you have met the teacher and had a CRB check, you can start volunteering. 1-2 hours a week is all that is needed for you to work with children identified by the school who would benefit from 121 reading support.
DCC’s Employee Volunteering Scheme enables you, with your line manager’s support, to volunteer during work time for up to 2.5 hours a fortnight, which means you can help out at your local school and give something back to the community at the same time.
