North Devon Maritime Museum

From shipwright's tools to 'mud shoes' and from salmon boats to warships, this museum traces the centuries-long seafaring tradition of the North Devon coast through a wealth of exhibits, models and photographs.

For example, did you know that during World War II the area was chosen for many top secret experiments including the training of the very first naval frogmen and tests on PLUTO (Pipe Line Under The Ocean) prior to D-Day?
