Devon Education Services is a business unit located within Devon County Council comprising over 130 advisers, officers, consultants and support staff working with schools, the local authority and other local and national organisations to raise educational standards.  The primary focus of the service is to improve teaching and learning and, through the Every Child Matters initiative, to enable all children and young people to enjoy and achieve.

The service is broadly based and incorporates the work of the primary and secondary national strategies, school improvement officers, specialist subject advisers, the early years team, primary and secondary phase advisers as well as colleagues working with support staff, in the area of special educational needs and concerned with continuing professional development, workforce remodelling, data and assessment.
