Apprenticeship in Business and Administration, Customer Service or ICT

Devon County Council’s apprenticeship scheme is a two-year programme that provides an opportunity to work in an office environment within the Council, whilst completing an apprenticeship qualification. The level 2 apprenticeship programme consists of key skills, a technical certificate and an NVQ in Customer Service, Business and Administration or IT. The apprentices are supported throughout the two-year programme, and are given all the help they need in order to secure a permanent position.

There is one intake of apprentices each year. The scheme is advertised from June in the local press, through Connexions, and on www.devonjobs.gov.uk. The recruitment process is at the end of August / beginning of September, and the apprentices start employment by October.

Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering

The Council is now offering a two-year Civil Engineering Apprenticeship programme within the Environment, Economy and Culture Directorate. Civil engineers design, build and maintain bridges, roads, railways and tunnels. Without them we wouldn’t have a constant supply of clean water, roads, bridges or trains to get to work in the morning, or sustainable energy to help us save our planet.

These vacancies are advertised from February each year on the DCC jobs website, with the recruitment process taking place in April.
