Dart Valley Trail

16 miles in total, comprising 4 miles on either side of this south Devon estuary plus a further 8 miles up the valley to Totnes; the route is comprehensively waymarked.

Passes through Totnes, Dartmouth and Kingswear plus a variety of riverside villages.

Classic river and estuary landscapes of one of the country's most beautiful valleys. Generally easy walking, but one or two stiff climbs.

Links with the South West Coast Path at Dartmouth and Kingswear.

Train access to Totnes; also to Kingswear (seasonal, via private steam line from Paignton); bus access to Totnes, Dartmouth and Kingswear; ferry access between Dartmouth and Kingswear and also between Totnes and Dartmouth (tidal); attractive circuits of the river and estuary are possible with a combination of the Dart Valley Trail, bus, steam train and ferry.
