Suiable for riders and walkers Go to Dittisham Circular Ride map (518KB).
Starting from the off-road lay-by at Foxenhole, proceed toward Dittisham taking CARE along this section of the road.
Turn right and follow the lane to Bramble Torre. Turn left and left again at Coombe Cross passing in turn, Coombe Hotel and Barberry Farm before taking an unmetalled track at the left hand bend.
At Barberry Water Bridge follow the signposted bridleway across a meadow and through Capton Wood, rejoining the metalled road at Capton Mill.
These old oak woods are carpeted with Bluebells in the spring and Foxgloves through the summer.
Taking the road up into Capton, follow the signposted bridleway up a green lane and along field edges descending by a lane to Kingston Farm.
Exellent views can be had across the River Dart toward Torbay and Kingswear.
Leaving the farm, turn right and proceed along this road passing Little Coombe Plantation and climbing up to Downton Cross.
With CARE cross the road to Downton Farm. Pass the farm and lodge and follow the trackwhich continues as a green lane, winding downhill between fields and through a forestry plantation to join a metalled road. Take care to avoid side tracks which lead up into fileds or forestry blocks.
Turn left at the road and head toward Old Mill Creek. At the creek, follow the 'no through road', (with the creek on your right), past the boat yards in about 100 metres bear left where the track appears to fork. As you climb, the track can run with water and as a result has become stony under foot.
Take the signposted bridleway to the right and with the old quarry workings on your left, follow the waymarks, picking up a short length of lane and crossing two fields to rejoin the road.
Follow the metalled road to the left, up over Fire Beacon Hill and down once more to the main Dittisham Road.
Turn left and proceed with CARE, up the hill returning to Foxenhole and the start of the route.
