Definitive Map Review

Parish of Thelbridge

The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 requires the County Council to keep the Definitive Map of public rights of way under continuous review and to make modifications where it appears that routes should be added, amended or deleted. A review is currently being undertaken in Thelbridge Parish

Schedule of Suggestions for Change

  • Suggestion 1(73KB - GIF) :Addition of a Public Bridleway from the county road between Doctors Corner and Millbarn Cross GR SS 8006 1252 going south down Westcott Lane, past Westcott Farm SS 8003 1172 across the River Dalch at the parish boundary SS 8010 1122 and along the field headland to join Bridleway No. 9, Washford Pyne at Wonham Farm in the parish of Washford Pyne at SS 8027 1107.
  • Reported to the Public Rights of Way Committee in November 2009 with decision that a Modification was not to be made

  • Suggestion 2(62KB - GIF) :Addition of a Public Bridleway from the county road between Witheridge and East Worlington in Witheridge parish GR SS 7959 1409 going south past Coombe House along Somerwell Lane SS 7950 1378 to north of Summer Farm (Higher Somerwell) SS 7981 1348 and then dividing into two routes going east and south to the Thelbridge to Witheridge road (B3042) to SS 8059 1344 and via SS 7979 1309 to SS 8003 1278.
  • Reported to the Public Rights of Way Committee in March 2010 with the recommendation (agreed) that no Modification Order be made

  • Suggestion 3(64KB - GIF) :Diversion of Footpath No. 6, Thelbridge at Millmoor Farm – divert the recorded definitive line to the east of the buildings, to the route currently signed and walked by the public lying west of the buildings.

  • Suggestion 4(84KB - GIF) :Diversion of Footpath No. 6, Thelbridge and Footpath No.13, Washford Pyne in the vicinity of Stourton Barton – divert the recorded line to a more direct line between the north west end of Footpath No. 13 in Washford Pyne and the farm drive to Stourton Barton as signed and walked by the public.

The Public Path Diversion Order for Footpath No. 6, Thelbridge & Footpath No. 13, Washford Pyne (suggestions 3 and 4) was made in August 2010 and having received no objections or representations was confirmed on the 13th October 2010.

A Public Path Diversion Order was also made in August 2010 for the diversion of parts of Footpath No. 14, Thelbridge and Footpath No. 3, Washford Pyne and having received no objections or representations was confirmed on the 13th October 2010
