Around 25% of residents in the Ward of Wonford are aged between 1 and 10. In response to this residents were keen to include a play area within the Home Zone.

An ellipse shaped play area is therefore proposed, splitting Lilac Road and Hawthorn Road, which will be made out of polished concrete. A motif will be sandblasted onto the surface after a design has been agreed with the residents.

At the request of residents this area will be enclosed. Bollards will be used to separate the play space from the road as well as low walls, sculpted out of shuttered concrete and clad with a bound local gravel.

At this stage the space will be free of play equipment to keep the options for its use as flexible as possible.
