From the beginning of the project, one of the main features of the Home Zone Challenge fund has been to involve the residents in the planning and design. A large number of residents have attended planning and design meetings and have given their views about the construction of a Home Zone in their streets.

A large percentage of residents voted to have the scheme built with over 250 people voting in favour with only 3 against.

After a number of successful open planning meetings a residents Association was formed for the duration of the project. The committee is made up of residents of the Home Zone area, and normally meet once a month to discuss progress of the Home Zone and any issues raised by residents.

The committee has been involved in a number of events for the Home Zone from a clean up day to Design exhibitions. The committee has recently voted to start its own paper recycling scheme, with the money raised going back into the community.
