Recycling Centres

Torr Quarry, Kingsbridge

Opening days:

Open all year round (except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day)

Summer (Apr - Sep)     Winter (Oct - Mar)    
Monday - Friday 8:00am - 6:00pm 8:00am - 4:30pm
Saturday and Sunday 10:00am - 6:00pm 10:00am - 4:30pm

  • Recyclable materials
  • Bulky household items.
    e.g. Furniture, carpets, household electrical equipment

Recycling facilities available

  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Newspapers and magazines
  • Card/Yellow Pages
  • Aluminium and steel cans
  • Textiles
  • Garden/green waste
  • Timber
  • Metal/domestic appliances
  • Fridges/freezers
  • TVs / computer monitors
  • Plastic bottles
  • DIY engine oil
  • Car batteries
  • Reusable goods
  • Gas bottles

Restricted

  • Rubble/hardcore, soil and general construction waste: 12 large bags/0.5 tonnes in 6 month period
  • Tyres: 5 in 12 months, preferably separated from rims
  • Household chemicals (e.g. pesticides, white spirit, bleach, old medicines, oil-based paint): 5 litres in 12 months
  • Fluorescent tubes: 5 in 6 month period
  • Asbestos: acceptable by arrangement only, see Asbestos for further information
  • Food: acceptable by arrangement only.  Please contact your local district/city council in the first instance

Non-acceptable

  • Sharps/clinical items: please contact your local district/city council
  • Animals/animal bedding
  • Commercial/trade waste: (green waste and cardboard chargeable by arrangement only, see Trade Recycling)

Non-acceptable waste is chargeable at Deep Moor landfill site 01805 623496, Exeter transfer station 01392 666420 and Heathfield landfill site 01626 853522 via a weighbridge

From Kingsbridge take the A381 towards Halwell, the site is on the left signposted as Torr Quarry Industrial Estate. From Halwell on the A381 travelling towards Kingsbridge, the site is on the right after passing through The Mounts village.
