The Country Park provides good access for wheelchair and mobility buggy users as the towpath is largely flat and even. Areas which may still cause problems due to mud in the winter months and tree roots growing across the towpath include the sections between Rock Bridge and Battens Bridge, Holbrook Bridge and Ebear Bridge and the steep slopes either side of Waytown Tunnel. It is envisaged that these problems will be reduced with towpath resurfacing works over the next few years.
![]() | Mobility buggies are available to hire from Mid Devon Shopmobility, located 1km from the Canal Basin, in Tiverton (Tel. 01884 242099). Recent works in the Canal Basin and car park ensure that this popular visitor area complies with DDA legislation through the provision of ramps and handrails. The public toilets in this car park included a toilet for disabled users, accessed with a RADAR key. |
Entry to the Country Park at all the main access points (particularly beside road bridges) has been improved in recent years through the installation of two-way, self-closing gates.
