Japanese Knotweed

Recording Knotweed in Devon

Without surveying and recording the distribution of Japanese Knotweed there is no way of knowing where it occurs, whether it is increasing and the typical habitats it colonises.  Knowing the full extent of the problem of Japanese Knotweed colonisation in the county will help the Devon Knotweed Forum identify priorities for control and management.  It is therefore important to report any sightings of the plant in the county to the Devon Biodiversity Records Centre.

If you know of a colony of Japanese Knotweed (or one of its relatives) in Devon please record it's location and associated details using our Japanese Knotweed Recording Form image - PDF icon (71KB - pdf help)  You will need to print it off, fill in the form and send it to the Devon Biodiversity Records Centre, c/o Exeter Central Library, Castle Street, Exeter, Devon EX4 3PQ.  Alternatively, you can report Japanese Knotweed online via this form.

Devon Biodiversity Records Centre (DBRC) collects information on Japanese knotweed on behalf of the Devon Knotweed Forum. Knowing the full extent of the problem of Japanese Knotweed colonisation in the county will help the Devon Knotweed Forum identify priorities for control and management. DBRCcollects information on Japanese knotweed, it is not involved in controlling it; this is the landowner’s responsibility.

Thank you for your help.
