A Devon Primrose Survey has been undertaken to meet the objectives of the Devon Primrose Action Plan, which are to -
Pilot projects were carried out in East Devon in 2000 to assess how surveys might be used to generate meaningful information on the current status of wild primroses in Devon, whilst also generating public interest and involvement. Based on this experience, the Devon Primrose Survey was launched countywide in 2002 (having been delayed by the foot and mouth crisis the year earlier). The survey was implemented in two ways -

(1.21MB - pdf help) Also linked to the Devon Primrose Survey was a further piece of work, undertaken in Spring 2000, designed to assess the public attitude towards primroses and other aspects of Devon's natural environment. This provides some interesting insight into the public's awareness of wildlife issues and the importance they attach to its conservation.
