Devon County Council maintains a Sites and Monuments Register which serves as an index to the archaeology and historic environment of the county.

The Sites and Monuments Register contains:

• Site information,
• Aerial photographs,
• Maps,
• Site surveys and
• Bibliographic information.

Steps are now being taken to upgrade the Register to a more comprehensive and accessible Historic Environment Record. In the meantime the Register may be consulted by appointment with the Archaeological team.
