6 Day Standstill Rule - Tips

  • Remember it is 6 clear days – same day next week before you can move off.
  • Mark the day of moving onto your farm on your calendar in red – blank off the next six days.
  • Record all movements in your record book as soon as possible – it must be within 36 hours. Check your movement record book before moving any livestock.
  • Using an approved isolation unit – don’t forget the declaration forms – check the rules – call Trading Standards on 0845 1551999
  • Moving to market – the 6 day standstill rule applies unless it is a dedicated slaughter – check with the market.
  • Pigs – don’t forget if pigs come on and you want to move pigs off – you must wait 20 clear days.

Please make it a habit to comply – these controls are permanent legislation – it is illegal to move in breach of the standstill period.
