European Issues
European Funds
From 2000 to 2006 Devon was successful in attracting over £70 million in European funding. Devon County Council received £18 million during this time which, with match funding, amounted to a total of £41 million in value. Devon County Council is now seeking further opportunities to use European funding to support environmental, social and economic projects in the county.
The European Structural Funds are the most important source of EU funding for local authority economic development and employment projects. The Structural Funds include:
- European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)
- European Social Fund (ESF)
- European Agriculture Fund for Rural Development EAFRD
In 2007-2013, we will have access to ERDF through a new 'Competitiveness' programme which will support business and employment initiatives across the South West (apart from Cornwall), to further ERDF funds through a 'Co-operation' programme for international economic, social and environmental projects; and to EAFRD support through the Rural Development Programme for England. The document below gives an overview of European funding streams that Devon is eligible for, or contact us for more information.
EU Masterclass - January 2009
