Civil Partnerships

Since 5 December 2005 same-sex couples have been able to give notice of intention to register their partnership and 15 clear days (or up to 1 year) later sign a civil partnership schedule in the presence of two witnesses and a Civil Partnership Registrar.  Couples wishing to make arrangements to register their partnership should contact their local Registration Office.  Registration staff will be able to provide details of the required legal formalities together with information regarding ceremonies.

For more information regarding the legal consequences of registering a civil partnership please refer to the Home Office.

For details of associated costs please refer to our Registration Fees Information.

What's new?
From 1 April 2008 fees for civil partnership registrations/ceremonies at approved premises increase.  Visit our Registration Fees page for more information.
