You may pay for photocopies, microfiche printouts, parish register microfiche orders, publications or work undertaken by the Research Service by £ sterling cheque, bank draft, or credit/debit card. We require payment or credit/debit card details before we send out any of the above orders or publications, and before we begin a Research Service request.
Please send £ sterling cheques (made payable to Devon County Council) to Devon Record Office, Great Moor House, Bittern Road, Sowton, Exeter, Devon, EX2 7NL, U.K. Payments by Visa, Delta, Mastercard, Eurocard, Switch and Maestro are accepted – details of cardholder name, address, card number, expiry date and, in the case of Switch and Maestro cards, a ‘valid from’ date, can be sent by post, telephone or fax but not by e-mail.
If you submit your photocopy or Research Service request on-line, using the links provided, please follow the directions about payment given on the on-line submission forms. Before using this alternative method of submission, you should always read about the charges we make for photocopies and the Research Service, and the rest of the information given on the relevant web-pages.
If you are an overseas customer not paying by credit or debit card, you should send your payment in £ sterling in the form of a bank draft, or add the equivalent of £7.00 for handling fees on each local currency cheque.
If copies cannot be supplied, or a research request cannot be undertaken, we will return the whole cheque or money order to you. We do not give partial refunds of the minimum £12 Research Service fee, nor of the minimum photocopying charge. Any credit left over from advance payment for research or photocopying will normally be held against future research or copying orders. In exceptional cases, if you can make no further use of our services and have made an excess payment, a refund of the remaining amount will be arranged. If in doubt, please ask for an estimate of the likely cost in advance, or pay by open cheque or credit/debit card.
