Are there any cafes, restaurants or shops near the Record Office where I can buy food?

A refreshment room for the use of Devon Record Office users is located opposite the entrance to the Devon Record Office reception area. It contains tables, chairs and two machines which dispense hot and cold drinks and snacks.  The room will also eventually contain public access computer terminals with Internet access for the use of record office visitors.

Food can be purchased at the following places within walking distance of Great Moor House:

  • Den’s Delights – a van which is parked throughout the day in Bittern Road, south of the entrance to Great Moor House
  • The Barn Owl, a public house opposite the Honiton Road Park and Ride bus stop at the rear of great Moor House, serves meals

Food can also be bought at the following places not far from Great Moor House, and accessible by car:

  • Sowton services area, close to junction 30 of the M5 motorway
  • Supermarket in the village of Clyst St Mary, to the left of the first roundabout on the A376/A3052 to Sidmouth
  • The Half Moon, a public house in the village of Clyst St Mary, serves meals at lunchtime

There are cafes in the suburb of Heavitree, on the route between Great Moor House and Exeter.  Travel via Honiton Road (A3015) and East Wonford Hill to Fore Street, Heavitree, where the shopping centre is found.
