From the MSC Napoli Response Centre
Preparation work to refloat the MSC Napoli is continuing, but no date for a refloat can yet be confirmed.
Salvors' plans to refloat the vessel have been submitted to Government, but all the necessary permissions have not yet been given.
The decision also awaited concerns how the vessel will finally be disposed of.
Preparation work this week around the vessel has included patching work on board the vessel and testing to ensure that holes are plugged, ready for a refloat. Heavy duty pumping equipment has also been arriving on site and is being positioned within the vessel.
Routine salvage work onboard the vessel has also continued this week.
Elsewhere, small articles have washed ashore along the coastline and these have been dealt with. Contractors have assessed the work needed to bring the submerged containers from around the Napoli to the surface for removal - an operation that will need to be done after the vessel has refloated.
The Times (London and the South East) has published a Jurassic Coast supplement to promote the area, funded by the South West Regional Development Agency. Copies of the supplement are available by emailing helen.chater@devon.gov.uk.
