ICT Training

Access XP Basic

OBJECTIVES:

On completion of the course participants will be able use Access to store and maintain data.  Participants will have a good knowledge of the tools available to set up, maintain and design forms, queries and reports.

AUDIENCE:

The course is for those who need to manage large quantities of data which can be held in related tables within the database.

DURATION:

Two Days

PRE-REQUISITIES:

It is essential to have a good working knowledge of the XP Windows environment or to have attended the XP PC Awareness Course or Using a Computer Steps 1, 2 and 3 and to be using other XP applications such as Word, Outlook or Excel.

CONTENTS:

Introduction to Access XP Creating Tables for storing data
Data Maintenance – setting up default values, and types of data, such as text and numbers Sorting and Filtering Data
Creating Forms for input of data Using the Forms Design and Wizard features
Enhancing Forms and adding extra features such as drop down selections and buttons Creating Queries for selecting ranges of fields and records
Queries – working with Parameter queries, Total queries and Action queries Creating Reports using the Design Window and Wizard features
Reports – adding grouping levels and subtotals and totals Command Buttons – adding automated features
