Two Council meetings broadcast live on the web

From Janet Kipling, Exeter 383654, March 16, 2007

TWO Devon County Council meetings will be broadcast live on the internet next week.

The Community Services Scrutiny Committee will meet on Tuesday 24 April at 1.30pm.

Items for discussion include a report on the Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service and a discussion with representatives from the Children's Trust.

The Development Control Committee will meet on Wednesday 25 April at 2.15pm.

Items for discussion include a proposal for demolition waste recycling and wood waste recycling at Woodbury Salterton, proposals for a new classroom block at Kings School, Ottery St Mary, and the proposed construction of a section of cycle/walkway as part of the Exe Estuary National Cycle Network between Lympstone and Exton.

The live 'webcasts' will be made on the Council's award-winning website http://www.devon.gov.uk/. People can watch the webcasts live or view the recordings later whenever they want to.

They can also use the website to send in their views on the issues discussed, decisions taken and the webcasting service itself.

Those who are not connected to the internet at home, can access recordings of meetings from libraries. People are advised to check availability with their local library first.

So far, over 27,253 people have used the service - an average of around 600 people per month.
