You've got a friend - Totnes Library launches new group

From Janet Kipling, Exeter 383654, January 24, 2008

Totnes Library has launched a new Friends Group, which will give keen library users the opportunity to become more closely involved.

Not only will group members get a say in issues relating to the future of the library but they will help to raise its profile in the community, encourage people to use the many different services, provide support for events and activities such as author talks, and organise social events and book sales.

Executive Member for Culture, Councillor Sheila Hobden, said: "Many of our libraries have active Friends Groups and they not only provide wonderful support to our library staff but are an excellent social network for library users."

Totnes Rural Councillor Geoff Date said: "I echo all that Councillor Hobden says, and Totnes' many enthusiastic library users come forward and make the most of this opportunity."

The launch meeting will be on Thursday February 14th at 3pm in the library. Information leaflets with details and a section for people to fill in if they wish to offer support are available in the library.
