Improvement work at Sutton Barton recycling centre

From Adrian Lane, Exeter 383262, April 14, 2008

DEVON County Council's Recycling Centre at Sutton Barton in Offwell will be offering a limited service on Monday 21 April and Wednesday 23 April to allow the site to be resurfaced and a new sales building to be constructed.

Whilst a basic service will still be provided, local householders are advised to avoid visiting the site on these days as there may be long delays caused by the works.

Councillor Margaret Rogers, Devon County Council Executive Member for Environment, said: "We apologise for any inconvenience, but this work is essential as part of continued refurbishment of the existing site. Once the scheme is complete, people who use the site will have a better facility where they will be able to do even more for Devon by recycling lots more."

Councillor Barry Nicholson, Devon County Councillor for Honiton St Michael's, said: "The recycling centre at Sutton Barton is a popular site with local residents and I'm sure they will appreciate the improvements once they have been completed later this month."

The scheme will give the site a new 'sales' building, refurbished concrete walls for the general and green waste bays and staff accommodation will be upgraded.
