From Michaila Hill, Exeter 382535, September 05,2008
Young book fans are invited to join Okehampton Library's new children's book club.
Members need to be under 12 years of age and like reading and talking about books. There will be the chance to find out about authors as well as making books and the young members will enjoy access to new books and authors as well as old favourites, writing reviews and joining in discussions.
There will be puzzles and wordsearches, along with regular computer sessions to find out what cartoon character M@x is up to on The Zone, Devon County Council's children's library pages.
Executive Member for Culture, Councillor Sheila Hobden, said: "Clubs such as this are an excellent way to develop a love of reading within a child, and to encourage children to use the wide range of services on offer at Devon County Council libraries."
The club's first meeting is on Monday 15 September from 3.45pm to 4.45pm at Okehampton Library. The meetings will be monthly and children should be fluent, independent readers.
For more information contact the library on 01837 52805.
