County Council funding buys new equipment and instruments for Chulmleigh

From Mike Bomford, Exeter 382173, January 03, 2008

Young people in Chulmleigh are to benefit from grants given by Devon County Council's North Devon County Committee.

The eight County Committees have budgets from which Committee Members can allocate grants to local community groups or projects which will make a big difference to people's lives, in line with the Council's Strategic Plan.

The 1st Chulmleigh Scouts are being given £590 to buy new cooking equipment and Chulmleigh Community College is to receive £1,000 towards the cost of musical instruments - clarinets, flutes, trumpets and trombones.

The proposals for funding were put forward by Chumleigh and Swimbridge County Councillor, Joe Tucker.

He said: "I am very keen to help young people and youth groups within society, especially young people who have do not the financial resources to purchase this equipment themselves."
