Council cash sheds light

From Janet Kipling, Exeter 383654, November 22, 2007

Moretonhampstead's new King George V sports and community centre will be under the spotlight now thanks to Devon County funding to pay for lighting in the car park.

The centre, adjacent to the playing fields, has been created by the local community. It has ample parking but no lighting in the car park which it is felt may be deterring some people from using the centre in the evenings.

Now thanks to a grant of £3,600 from the County Council, lighting is to be installed. The money has come from the County Council's County Committee budget which enables Councillors to give one-off grants to local projects.

Bovey Tracey Rural County Cllr Sally Morgan said: "King George V Centre is a fantastic facility for the whole community and neighbouring villages. This lighting will make the centre much more accessible and even more inviting to those wishing to use it."
