THE F7 Fare Car scheme in South Hams is being extended to serve Ivybridge Station from Monday, August 13.
The service, funded by Devon County Council, operates at regular intervals to and from Modbury and Ivybridge, with one trip to Tesco's at Lee Mill each day Monday to Saturday.
The Fare Car, operated by Bridge Cabs, runs at fixed arrival and departure times like a bus service. It serves a large rural area that does not have a daily bus service. People living in or visiting Bigbury, Challaborough, Kingston, Ringmore and St Ann's Chapel can use it to travel to Modbury, Ivybridge and Tesco's at Lee Mill whilst those living in or visiting Modbury, Ermington, Ludbrook and Ugborough can use it to travel to and from Ivybridge and Tesco's at Lee Mill.
The new journeys into Ivybridge station operate run at 0755, 1120 and 1300 to the station and 1715, 1815 and 2130 from the station. They are designed to connect with trains to Plymouth or Exeter/London.
There have been minor changes to the current timetable to accommodate the new journeys.
The fare is £2 per single journey to Modbury. To travel to Ivybridge and Lee Mill, the fare is £2 for people living north of Modbury and £2.50 for those living south of or travelling from Modbury.. Anyone can use the service and bookings must be made a day in advance. For more information call 01392 383481 or visit www.devon.gov.uk/buses
Councillor Margaret Rogers, Devon County Council's Executive Member for Environment, said: "This service is of great benefit to anyone living in rural areas who may wish to travel for shopping, medical appointments, leisure and also for work and education. With the extension of the scheme to Ivybridge station, it will also be helpful for those travelling onwards."
