I have been elected as a County Councillor for the electoral division of Bideford East. I intend to serve the interests of all residents, regardless of political persuasion.

I am, however, a member of the Liberal Democrat Party and take an active interest in a number of national and local campaigns. I am married to Virginia, a chiropodist and have two adult children and one grandchild.  In a past life I was a social worker within children's services and more recently a manager within the voluntary sector.

I was first elected to DCC in 2001 and until recently was the Executive Support Member for Children & Young People’s Services. Since 1995 I have also been a member of Torridge District Council and am currently Chair of the Plans Committee. I sit on the South West Regional Flood Defence Committee and am a member of the Management Board of the Bideford Children's Centre and a governor of Bideford Community College.  

I'm proud to have played a part in securing a new college for Bideford and am a member of its Project Board which will hopefully deliver the new school by 2010.  In addition to my consistituency duties, my objectives include working on the regeneration of Bideford and the vibrancy of the rural areas, and ensuring that we can deliver first class services in the field of adult social care and adult learning in what is a large sparsely populated area.
